Today was our first event for human wrong week. It went really well. It was called 3 worlds dinner. Basically we serve three different dinners, each person only gets one. they could get First World which consisted of a soda, salad, lasagna, bread, and a piece of cake. (with the option of seconds) Second world consisted of rice with veggies, water, and a piece of bread. and Third world was just rice and water.  Only about 8 people out of about 60 people got the first dinner, it was set up to represent our world. So you would be sitting at a table eating all this food while everyone else had little to eat. Most people who got this meal felt uncomfortable eating so much next to the people who had so little.

We are not only blessed to have great food, we have an abundance of it. We need to be thankful for what we have and realize that there are those less fortunate than us. I thought it was funny that our group went out and bought gallons of water to use at the event. In my head i’m thinking there is a sink in the same room that we are pouring the water why can’t we just use that.  It was just like Most places don’t even have running water, and we have it yet we decide to buy our water from a store.  Last year The US SPENT $15 BILLION DOLLARS ON BOTTLED WATER!! Imagine if that water went to the 1.8 BILLION people that are starving all over this #World. This is the Olympic season and everyone is trying to prove that they are the best. They are trying to make a name for themselves. How cool would it be if you could say “Hey I’m from America, yeah we solved WORLD HUNGER (You’re Welcome)!!” I’m not trying to yell at anyone, i’m just trying to put stuff into perspective. I mean today IHop gave out Free pancakes!! How lucky are we that we can live in a place where free food is just thrown at us we didn’t have to work for it.

There are two things i want people to get out of this:

1. we are So Blessed!!

2. We can changed the world if we put our thoughts into action.

3. come out to the other events this weekend on campus.

But really this is a serious problem about 2 out of 100 students has an eating disorder!! (serious side)

This past Saturday was RAIN. This is an event at my school that was put together by some students who really wanted to seek after God. It’s 12 hrs of prayer and worship. I went to 9 hrs of it and it was amazing. God showed up there. It was just nice to receive a refreshing of his spirit, to reignite the fire that once stirred in my heart. God is real and he is moving, i’m excited to see how he is going to change this campus.

there were three things that God really laid on my heart and i wrote down a prayer if you will for each. and i wanted to share them with you.

The first one is about Haiti. As some of you know i went to Haiti in December ’08. Ever since then there has always been a special place for Haiti in my heart. February 12th was the one month anniversary of the earthquake that destroy parts of Haiti. A little over a Year ago i was standing in the exact City that was struck by that earthquake. My heart cries for the people of Haiti.

I hold the world in my hands and you in my arms.

You are my people I will Protect you, I will keep you safe from harm

Trust me It will be okay the Storm is over.

Next God just really wanted me to pray about Marriage and Family. Just for us to come back to a place where marriage is a sacred bond  between one man and one women. That a families will become more connected in each others lives. That divorce will be done away with.

Marriage/Family

Lord take Marriage and make it pure again

make it into a bond that can’t be broken

Restore the idea of family

make our houses into homes

may love and compassion flow from out lips

may build each other up, and stand as one.

Finally there is myself. I just prayed for God to Use me in His ways. That I would not Hinder his work but be a servant unto Him. That He would Take Control once again.

Me.

Lord show me how real you can be

let me express my love to you without expecting anything in return.

Your Love is enough. Help me to stand on your Word so i will not go astray.

Draw me deep within your presence. Become the center of my life.

May your Light shine in everything i do.  Give me direction make your ways Mine.

I want to be more like you. I AM YOURS!

Acts 9:3-9, 15-18

As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. ⁴He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

⁵“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.

“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. ⁶“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

⁷The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. ⁸Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. ⁹

But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. ¹⁶I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”

¹⁷Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” ¹⁸Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized.

Many of us are like Paul we are going around doing things not pleasing to God, so God decides to knock us off our “high horse” and he takes away our sense of direction. We then have to rely on those around us to guide us to the path that God has intend for our life. God then will bring people into our lives to open our eyes to our purpose in Christ Jesus.

Acts 19:11-16

God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, ¹²so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.

¹³Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.”¹⁴Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. ¹⁵(One day) the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?” ¹⁶Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all.

Paul was being used by God in amazing ways. I mean how cool is it that pieces of cloth that Paul touch would heal the sick and drive out demons. I think that the reason that God used Paul in such miraculous ways was that Paul had a strong relationship with God. He prayed and fasted and talked with God daily. He relied on God for everything and did what God commanded him to do.  I think the people in verses 13-16 didn’t have such a strong relationship with God. The bible says they casts out demons by saying in the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches to me it sounds like they were trying to See if The God of Paul was the real God. They didn’t have a real strong relationship with God. How would you feel if someone from your school or work heard that you believe in God and they said “really they don’t act that way.” Thats what this demon was saying to these people, He said i know Jesus and I know Paul, but i haven’t heard of you. Are you taking a stand for Christ so that the people around you know that you are a Christian?

This is the main points i got out of reading Acts.

First God can use anybody for his kingdom, so if there is that one person that you think will never accept God keep trying God may have big plans for their life.

Second A strong relationship with Christ is key to carry out his plans. God can do amazing things if we just follow his will and seek after him.

Third Following after God is going to be hard. Many times Paul faced persecution and death.                                      Acts 9:16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”

Fourth God will always be with us and protect us. Every time Paul ran into persecution God was there. God broke him out of prison. Acts 16:16  Acts 14:5

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I know some people ask these questions in anger, but that’s not why i say them. I say them as a statement. A statement that we’ve had enough. We are no longer going to sit by and let the devil ruin the lives of the people around us. We are going stand up and reach out to those who are hurting no longer are we going to walk by the hurting those who are crying out for help. Like Ben said we need to be the samaritan, we aren’t going to follow the laws and the crowd and just walk by. But we are going to stoop down and pick up our fellow brothers wether believers or not and we are going to take them where they can find healing and rest. That is in the Lord Jesus Christ. How long are we going to let the devil tell our peers that life is not worth living how long are we going to let our friends ruin there lives and the lives of others with alcohol and drugs.  It only takes one drop to start a ripple is that drop going to be you because i know i am tired of my friends listening to the lies of satan so let us make a stand an change our world.

Dear Lord,

I pray that you will show us the hurting and the lost, the Broken and confused. Lord do not let another one slip through the cracks and fall into darkness. Lord use us to reach out to those who need you. Enable us to speak Your Word with great boldness. Lord open up our eyes to the pain of this world so that we can fight against the lies and tricks of the devil. He will say that we are, “nothing” but Lord let us set our eyes on you and realize we are everything in you. Let us become an unstoppable force that will break down the walls that hold this generation in, the walls stopping us from our true potential. Lord use us to change this World, Let us turn it back to you. Pull us out of the darkness and into your LIGHT. We are your chosen people. Use us i pray so that none shall have to suffer anymore. That no one will feel worthless. Give us Your boldness and desire to reach and listen to the cry’s of the lost so that they might be found in you.

IN THE NAME OF JESUS I PRAY AMEN.

I was just amazed at everybody’s testimonies. Then to see all those people come out for the prayer before service, God is really going to move this church and use it in ways we’ve never dreamed. We just have to keep seeking after God and His glory, and He will shower us with his presence.

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded…    Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

James 4:8,10

We need to  remove the stuff from our lives that is getting in the way, and just embrace God and the plans that he has for our lives. We need to stop getting in our own way and run towards what God is calling us. I’ve been reading the devotional book that Pastor Brian gave me in ATL and the first few days it has been talking about Making sure you are surrounding yourself with the right people. Surround yourself with people that will push you towards God. It was also saying be accountable to someone. Share what’s going on in your life good and bad  with someone who you feel comfortable with and can trust. Someone who can help you and will be there for you when you are struggling. Also talk about the positive things God’s doing in your life. One of the College small group (if your in college Go!) discussions talked about how daily we should have someone we can talk to about God. So that we become so familiar with talking to someone about God, that when given the opportunity presents itself we can easily share God with other people. (it’s that whole repetition repetition repetition thing!)

I can’t wait for this Coming Sunday! It’s going to be amazing to get rid of all the stuff that’s been holding me back from God for Good! If you are one of those people who are trying to defend everything you own and say that this thing doesn’t effect me this way, stop it! If you have to justify keeping it then its probably something that you shouldn’t keep. I’ve done the same thing for years and years. I always use to say oh music doesn’t effect me at all. I just listen to it for the FAT BEATS! It may be true but it doesn’t mean the other things aren’t effecting you. I always said that but every time someone talks and they say a line from a song or even a word I immediately pick up on it, its the first thing that pops into  my head. I could list a ton of innocent words but you could link them to songs that are not pleasing to God. Don’t believe me.

I was on a boat when my friend asked me if i would like to go to the Candy shop, I said Yeah! so we were on our way when another ship got in our way. I was like move boat get out my way! The guy waved and said sorry. When we made it to the shop were i ordered a lollipop, Cherry of course. It was getting kind of hot so we went home.

I Know some people won’t appreciate that part of this blog because it does remind them of songs, but that’s my point. Music and movies effect us. So i hope everybody will suck it up and just Let go of the things holding them back. I did and it feels great!! it was hard as all get out  though!!!

God wants to use each and everyone of us, we all have a purpose so don’t feel like your not important or less important because you don’t want to become a pastor or a missionary or a speaker. God has a plan for your life all you have to do it give all of yourself to him. You will never be the same i guarantee it!

Afterwards i went outside and laid on a hammock and read my Bible and a book called “Living Water” by Brother Yun. I’ve been reading “Living Water” for about a month now and every chapter is just filled with wisdom, Its an excellent book (i recommend it!)  as i laid out there i began to listen to my ipod and just stared up at the sky and the trees.  I was just in awe of God’s presence in the trees. I mean how something that magnificent comes out of such a tiny seed just astounds me.

¹⁹since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.²⁰For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:19-20

I then began to walk around my house and pray and just ask God to bless my family and our house.

LATER THAT DAY…

It was my brother’s Birthday and Mark and Pam Stocker came over. Mark told us that Harvestseed got some good news that i can’t share but its amazing God is really starting to work through Harvestseed.

now your mad because i didn’t really say anything there but the news is amazing.

More AMAZING NEWS!! THAT I CAN TELL YOU!!!

My mom talked with my dad today as you know he is in Haiti. Well guess who else was in Haiti Bill Clinton thats who. My dad just happen to be in the same part of Haiti that Clinton was in and got to meet him and shake his hand. Not only that but he got to meet  James Lee Witt director of FEMA and they exchanged Business cards. Witt said that they would like to work with groups already in Haiti . So God is really starting to work in Harvestseed and in Haiti, its going to be amazing to see what else God has instore.

The tuesday after the conference i went and hung out with some friends and we had a bonfire and just hung out. Then one of my friend’s Kristin went and got all of her cd’s and took out all the non-christian one and started throwing them into the fire. I asked her why and she responded ” I’m starting over, How can i be an example to other’s when i have this stuff on my computer.” I realized this is what God was telling me he was saying you can’t serve two masters, so what are you going to focus on, me or the world.

I went home that night and pulled out my computer and started to delete music at first i started and went through my computer and deleted any artist that had the word explicit next to it. Then i went through and started to delete artist and songs that had negative lyrics. As i deleted more and more songs and more and more artist something popped into my head. For the past  six months or more i have always complained about how my computer hard drive  is always full and how i can’t fit anymore on my computer without deleting something. I would usually delete things like old school papers or notes taken in a class but there is one thing that i never deleted and that was my music.

It was like a metaphor for my life. God was saying Jon i want to fill you up with all this Knowledge (papers on my computer)  but you keep giving all your space and time to these worldly things (music on my computer). God was saying stop deleting the stuff your learning from My Word and start getting rid of the things that are getting between us and taking up space that i could use to lift you up to where belong.

Final Count: 10,000 songs deleted. 44.3 Gigabytes freed
